Hi my name is Jason Douglas and I would like to tell you about my experience at red bull rookies for a chance to race in the Moto GP.
I applied for this with thousands of other kids from all over the world. Out of these thousands there were 39 picked and out of Britain there was 2 picked I was one of them, a massive achievement.
We flew out on Sunday morning and once we got to Italy we went straight to the race track and had a look around . Monday we had to go to the track at night for a meeti…

Saturday
We had practise to see how the bike goes and what gearing to run. We had six practise sessions on that day and they all went well until in the second last practise I came out of clearways at brands hatch and high sided at over a hundred m.p.h I was ok but the bike wasn’t I bent the seat Frame smashed the fairings up and ripped my leathers but apart from that the rest of the bike was ok so I did not go out in the last session.
Sunday
Was qualifying and race in the afternoon after lunch…

Friday
We arrived at the track for the Friday practise I had never been to Friday
We arrived at the track for the Friday practise I had never been to Anglesey before so it was all new to me. After a days practise I really enjoyed the track my time of the day was 1:19 so I was pleased with that.
Saturday
The weather was really bad and the meeting got delayed by an hour because the wind was really strong. It would’ve been ok for the bigger bikes but not for the 125s because we would get blown awa…

sorry for the delay, well off we go to motogpto race with thundersport gp3 we had 20 min qualifying on Thursday. So off we go to the holding area with slicks and tyre warmers but the weather was not looking hopeful and in true British tradition the wets went on . So we had wet qualifying in the session Jason was having problems with quick shifter but with only 20 mins he had to keep going and make the best of the time he in the end up he was in 22ed which is not good but nothing we can do we rac…

Mallory park for emra to give Jason and me some time with the bike as i am learning about the bike and set up as i don't have the help or knowledge that some other riders do. we were first to qualify Jason was complaining about chatter and lack off power we were running the bike rich so we made some changes with jetting and suspension for the first race i qualified 8th. So in the first race it was warm and getting hotter in the race the started to slide and it got worse but i had a good race and…

well another race this time at oulton park we were at thundersport. Friday we had a test day which was warm and sunny we had about six sessions this was good for me due to the lack off track time for me. things went well and we think we found a good setting for Saturday but come Saturday the British weather stopped that idea so we had to get the wets on and change things we went with dunlop wets for qualifying i have not used them before so i was not sure about them. When the i came back in i to…

After a poor testing period plagued with setup and electrical problems, a poor shake down race at Mallory with an under powered bike and lots of lead attached. Tom Weeden, the 15 year old 125 racer, who moved up to BSB 125 this year has now at last had a very respectable start to the 2009 BSB season. Having moved up from Thundersport GB, Tom has found the pace much faster at BSB compared to club level. But he so far, with two rounds gone, he has managed to get to grips with this pace. After rece…

We moved on to Sunday weather was cold and there was a wind found it hard to keep temperature up in bike so qualifying was not so good the bike felt slow on the straight but in and out corners was very strong. On the first qualifier i was in 17th with a 1…

Thundersport Donington Park Saturday18th
Qualifying 1 and 2
The day started badly; the bike just didn’t want to start. After several attempts at starting it on the stand, they managed to start it by bump starting. As the bike coughed and spluttered into life, lots of fuel spat out of the exhaust like a hosepipe. The exhaust was full of fuel, so Tom’s dad put stuck some rag on the end of the exhaust and revved the bike. As he did this all the fuel inside the end can spat out of the end can joi…

Tom Weeden, the young 14 year old from Maidstone, is hoping to finish the season on a high this weekend. He travels to Donnington Park for a 1-day meet for the last round of Thundersport GB on Saturday 18th, and then on to Mallory Park for Sunday for the prestigious Mallory Park Race of the Year.
On Sunday Tom will score points for EMRA and Thundersport GB in a combined meeting.
Tom hopes to score well over the two days, as he is currently in 2nd in Thundersport and 3rd in Emra.

4th October Thruxton NG
Tom came to Thruxton with one aim in mind: to learn the track, as he had never been there before. Tom doesn’t race with NG normally but he needed to learn the track for the future and track time is tight at Thruxton.
Tom arrived late on Friday and had no chance to walk the track, leaving him with only a 10-minute session on Saturday morning to learn it.
Tom went out in the dry morning session and attempted to learn the track; by the end of it he had learnt most of it but…

Thundersport GB Anglesey 13/14th September
Going into the race meeting Tom felt confident, as he was consistently posting quick times on the Friday test day. 1st qualifying was quite good and Tom was 5th fastest on a large grid.
In the second qualifying session Tom improved and moved up to the edge of the front row in 4th place.
In the 14 lap Superpole race Tom got a good start from 4th on the grid and was 2nd into the first corner behind championship leader Ed Rendell. Tom tagged onto the ba…

EMRA 31st August Mallory Park
Tom went out in qualifying on a cloudy, foggy, but dry morning at the Mallory Park circuit and just took it easy for a few laps to run in a new piston. Then Tom started to put in some quick laps, but didn’t push to hard as he knows his starts are so good that I really doesn’t matter where he qualifies, as long as its somewhere near the front. In the end he qualified 6th.
Tom was 7th in the championship before this round due bad luck so far. He had had a detonated p…

Pembrey Thundersport GB 23rd 24th August
After a 4-hour trip Tom arrived at the Welsh track, Pembrey on Thursday night. Tom had been to Pembrey before, but on a Jawa 70.
On Friday Test day Tom went out to learn the track and improved on his times every session, but didn’t really like the track that much for some unknown reason hoping to improve in qualifying. But at least it had stayed dry.
On Saturday he didn’t qualify as well as he had hoped, ending up 7th on the grid after the 2nd qualifying…
